What do we mean by reference materials
By reference materials we mean: Analytical reference standards and quality control samples
A reference standard is a material that has been manufactured to be used as a standard in an assay, identification, or purity test. It must be of sufficient quality for its intended application.
A quality control sample, also known as a QC-sample or reference sample, is a representative sample that is used to assess and ensure the quality and accuracy of a manufacturing or testing process.
How do I order reference materials?

Note: To visit our web application, you need to register. Go to the 'registration form'. After registration, you will receive a username and password by e-mail to access our web application. Please ensure all your data is correct.
What is the price of reference materials?
The cost of an analytical reference standard depends on the number of ampoules ordered. If a single ampoule is ordered, the cost is €60. For orders over € 100, there is a 10% discount on the total order.
The costs for a set of quality control samples (QC-samples) is €100.
Does the price of reference materials include all costs?
The price includes all taxes and shipment by post. For courier service there is a charge of € 30.
- Please note that payments exclude costs the bank may charge you for the transfer. Bank charges should be paid by the client. When you make an international bank transfer you can choose who pays the transfer charges. BEN, SHA, OUR are the codes used for these transfers.
- The OUR instruction means you pay all transfer charges. We receive the full payment. We require all international transfers to us to be made with OUR instruction.
Can my order be sent by courier?
All orders will be sent by courier.
What are the costs of courier delivery?
The additional cost of shipment is a fixed amount of € 30.
Can I pay by credit card?
You can pay by credit card, Ideal (only in the Netherlands) and (inter)national bank transfer.
When do I receive the invoice?
After you placed and paid the order you will receive, the invoice by email.
Attention: You have to pay the order first. Always state the order number by the payment.
Can you send me the datasheets for the reference materials I purchased?
We do not send datasheets in hard copy. Most of the datasheets are available as download on our EURL Webshop
How can I obtain a password?
You will obtain a password when you register. You will need to register in order to enter the protected areas of the site and also when you order standards and other products.
Do I have to register each time?
You only have to register once.
I work for a commercial firm. Can I purchase reference materials from your laboratory?
Our reference materials are not supplied to commercial laboratories.
The bank of reference standards from our EURL is only available for quality control and quality assurance for government laboratories working in the field of residue analysis.
We are not a commercial laboratory, but government. The reference standards and materials we deliver are normally used for " official control purposes" only, and therefore only available EURL (European Union) related labs (or national government labs).
We do not allow reselling of the materials. So, every laboratory that wants to obtain these materials has to register separately on our website and order the materials themselves.
Are Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) provided for the reference standards?
There are no MSDSs, but our standards are safe and not of animal origin. All information on a reference standard is available via our Webshop.
What is the maximum amount I can order?
No more than three ampoules of the same standard can be placed on an order.
How do I reconstitute freeze-dried reference standards
In the Webshop you can download the protocol which describes the reconstitution of the analyte and how to handle the ampoules (product no. 0999).
Are the reference standards accredited according to ISO 17034?
No, Wageningen Food Safety Research does not prepare the standards according to this ISO standard.
